Realism arose in art as a reaction against the idealized and romanticized depictions of the world that were prevalent in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Artists sought to represent the world as it truly appeared, focusing on everyday subjects and ordinary people. This movement was also influenced by the rise of photography, which provided a new standard of visual accuracy. Realist artists aimed to capture the social and political realities of their time, often addressing issues such as poverty, industrialization, and the human condition. This shift towards a more truthful and unembellished representation of the world marked a significant departure from the prevailing artistic conventions of the time. **

Critical realism is an art movement that emerged in the early 20th century as a response to the rise of abstract art. It focuses on depicting the world in a realistic and detailed manner, often with a critical or social commentary. Artists associated with critical realism aim to represent the world as it is, highlighting social issues, political events, and human experiences. This movement seeks to engage viewers in a dialogue about the realities of the world around them, challenging them to think critically about society and their place within it. **

Poetic realism and realism are both literary movements that aim to depict life as it is, but they differ in their approach and style. Realism focuses on portraying everyday life and ordinary people in a straightforward and objective manner, often without embellishment or idealization. Poetic realism, on the other hand, combines realistic elements with poetic and lyrical language, creating a more stylized and artistic representation of reality. Poetic realism often uses symbolism, metaphor, and other literary devices to convey deeper meanings and emotions, while realism tends to focus more on the surface details of everyday life. **

Realism in art aims to depict subjects in a true-to-life manner, focusing on accurate representation of details and capturing the essence of the subject as it appears in reality. On the other hand, naturalism in art takes realism a step further by emphasizing the idea that art should closely imitate nature, often portraying subjects in a more raw and unfiltered way, highlighting the natural world and human experience. While both movements strive for authenticity and truthfulness, naturalism tends to delve deeper into the raw and unembellished aspects of life. **

Realism in art focuses on depicting subjects as they appear in real life, with an emphasis on detail, accuracy, and portraying the subject matter truthfully. Realist artists often depict everyday scenes and ordinary people in a straightforward manner. On the other hand, Impressionism in art is characterized by a focus on capturing the fleeting effects of light and color in a scene. Impressionist artists use visible brushstrokes and vibrant colors to create a sense of movement and atmosphere in their works, often painting en plein air to capture the changing qualities of light. **

Realism in art aims to depict subjects in a naturalistic and accurate manner, often focusing on the details and capturing the subject as it appears in reality. On the other hand, expressionism in art emphasizes the artist's emotional and subjective response to the subject, often distorting or exaggerating the form to convey a particular feeling or mood. While realism seeks to represent the external world objectively, expressionism seeks to convey the internal experience of the artist. **

The new realism is a philosophical movement that emerged in the 20th century, emphasizing the importance of reality and the external world. It rejects the idea of subjective idealism and focuses on the objective existence of the world. New realists believe that reality exists independently of our perceptions and interpretations, and that it can be understood through scientific inquiry and empirical evidence. This movement seeks to provide a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of the world, challenging traditional philosophical views. **

Photography can be a valuable component of an interior design portfolio, as it allows students to showcase their ability to capture and present their design work. However, a comprehensive interior design portfolio should also include hand-drawn sketches, technical drawings, mood boards, and other visual representations of design concepts. These additional elements demonstrate a student's creativity, technical skills, and design process, which are important aspects of studying interior design. Therefore, while photography is important, it should be supplemented with a variety of other visual materials to create a well-rounded portfolio for studying interior design. **
